A good checklist from Julie Ardito Public Relations on keeping things newsworthy:

  1. Competition: Research and development, productivity, jobs, competition buildsinterest
  2. Conflict: Between nations, armies, companies, labor and management
  3. Controversy: Difference of opinion builds interest
  4. Consequence: Is it of consequence? Health, food, shelter, income, community,etc.
  5. Familiar persons: If the audience knows the person, they can identify with theindividual
